Media monitoring FAQ

Media Monitoring

What is media monitoring?

Media monitoring is the discipline of searching the media for content of interest. Both the method as well as the media may vary: originally, media monitoring was a tedious task done by hand. The media were consumed and searched for a list of keywords and hits were noted. This not only requires a lot of human resources, time and money, but is also error-prone. Thanks to technological progress, media monitoring can be carried out fully automatically nowadays. Users can create profiles with keywords of choice and the selected media are searched for them by the system. Traditionally, the media monitored are classic media such as radio, TV or print. Due to digitalization and the increasing demand for new media solutions, the portfolio was expanded to include sources such as web TV, online press or podcasts
